libraries currently do. Traditional libraries collect organize
provide access to and preserve objects in their collections. The
flexibility of the digital Technology allows it to handle new objects
efficiently.
DL collections may be include things without direct
physical analogs such as algorithms or real time data fields. They
also may include digitalized representations of the museum collections.
DLs are considered among the most complex and advanced
forms of information systems involving not only computer and IT but IT
also Arts and Humanities.
