The ENVIRO VISION 2020

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed people can change the world. Indeed it’s all that ever has. – Margaret Mead"

2020 Vision makes grassroots activism simple for busy people. This document gives citizens the information to take a progressive stand on a wide range of issues. Our quarterly articles alerts you how quickly and easily to contact politicians and corporate officials to appraise dozens of groups and experts to make sure that realities of vision 2020 is focused on who, how and where, it will make the most difference. Today’s decisions will determine the world we create for the generations that follow us. Join us in taking small steps to save the planet life and it will provide a strong path for the future generation.

Our vision for the future is that by 2020 hygienic water supply i.e. 24 x 7 for all community and wastewater and material is viewed as a valuable resource. Where possible, materials are conserved and used to their full potential through reuse and recycling. Economic measures are in place to divert waste from disposal and towards reuse, recycling and composting and the environmental costs of the reuse, recycling or disposal of products are fully internalized within their price so that they are managed appropriately. This zero waste to landfill target is tough. It is an aspiration target that will stretch performance considerably. It is achievable however, the waste collection and disposal authorities will adopt the principal of an integrated municipal waste management strategy that seeks to ensure that waste management strategy that seeks to ensure that waste management is made more sustainable development by adopting the following hierarchy.

              1. Reduction 2. Re-use 3. Recovery – (i) Recycling (ii) Composting (iii) Energy recovery 4. Disposal
It provides a framework for the community to work towards reducing the impact of waste on the environment. One of the key objectives of the 2020 Vision is to reduce the impact of waste on the environment by reducing the amount of waste actually generated by the community. Enviro Vision 2020 is the collection of goals, strategies, actions and measurements in water supply, wastewater, solid waste management, air pollution to make the VISION a real success. VISION 2020 considers what we do and how we do it: everyday decisions and the ways we debate allow us to learn and come together to create the future we want. We all have a role to play in making the VISION a reality. Our principles of sustainability encompass the following:

  l  Fulfillment of human needs for peace, clean air and water, food, shelter, education, useful and satisfying employment;

  l  Maintenance of ecological integrity through careful stewardship, rehabilitation, reduction in wastes and protection of diverse and important natural species and systems;

  l  Provision for self-determination through public involvement in the definition and development of local solutions to environmental and development problems; and,

  l  Achievement of equity with the fairest possible sharing of limited resources among contemporaries and between our generation and that of our descendants.

The ENVIRO VISION 2020 will cover the water supply, wastewater management, solid waste management, air pollution control etc. to constitute the recommendation for policy legislation / adoption of certain technologies.
