Outcomes of the Workshop held at Tunis on 12th October 2006

The WFEO Communication Office organized in Tunis on 12 October 2006 a brainstorming workshop to explore the issues and themes to be addressed at the next WFEO Conference "Empowering Women in Engineering, Science and Technology" scheduled to be held in Tunis 4-8 June 2007.

The workshop gathered together around 30 women and men from university, business sector and other professionals.

Participants discussed the social, cultural, legal and professional aspects of the gender equity in general and recommended to:

  •  Identify barriers that prevent women in engineering and provide statistics about women in the field.

  • Identity the women empowerment factors for further integration in these fields.

  • Analyze the engineering profession for better understanding and access of women.
